The Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarność - NSZZ Solidarność (Niezależny Samorządowy Związek Zawodowy "Solidarność") is a voluntary-basis organization of working people set up to represent and defend their professional and social rights. The law guarantees statutory independence of union trades.
The Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union NSZZ Solidarność has a long-standing tradition. Established in 1980, it played a significant role in the history of the Republic of Poland. The first NSZZ "Solidarność" was registered on 10th November 1980 by Sąd Wojewódzki (a provincial court) in Warsaw.
The current objectives include defending employees' interests and rights, and in particular to: guarantee appropriate working conditions, workplace health and safety, remuneration, further career development, provide assistance in resolving conflicts between employees, strengthen employee–employer relations and their coincidence of interests. In addition, NSZZ "Solidarność" protects the cultural and educational interests of workers, in a broad sense.
Solidarność-Association comprises a group of people who support and help one another, and also provides free legal and counselling services and for its members, should the need arise.
IPPT PAN has Organizacja Międzyzakładowa no. 96, a cross – institutional organization, associating:
