On 1 January 2025, the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences began coordinating the prestigious widerAdvance Facility project. The project is funded by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme (competition HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-05-01) and brings together 17 partners from the European Union, Associated Countries and Outermost Regions. It is the only project funded in this call with a success rate of 6%. The initiatives have a budget of €5 million and will run until the end of 2028.
The aim of the widerAdvance Facility is to provide systemic support for the valorisation, dissemination and exploitation of the results of European projects implemented in the so-called Widening Countries (countries below the European average in terms of, inter alia, scientific excellence, including Poland) for research and scientific organisations - beneficiaries of instruments such as, inter alia, Teaming for Excellence, Excellence Hub, Twinning or COST funded by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme.
The initiative will provide structured and tailored support to enhance the capacities of research teams, research managers, technology transfer specialists and managers of scientific and research units. The aim of the project is for research results to be implemented in the socio-economic environment. The initiative is designed to support 750 Key Exploitable Results usable within the European Research Area.
The widerAdvance Facility complements the European Commission's existing systemic tools, such as the Horizon Results Booster and the IPR Helpdesk, while introducing new opportunities for organisations in Widening Countries and Outermost Regions.
The project will be inaugurated on 29-31 January this year in Warsaw at the headquarters of the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences. The project coordinator is Katarzyna Walczyk-Matuszyk, together with the Centre for EU Funded Projects team.
