From February 9 to 12, 2026, the Spain–Poland International Meeting on Artificial Intelligence Research (SIANI) – ULPGC – UNESCO Chair IPPT PAN was held in Las Palmas, Spain.

The organizers of the meeting were:
SIANI (Sistemas Inteligentes y Aplicaciones Numericas en Ingenieriade), a research institute at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) in Spain, represented by Prof. Orlando Maeso – Director of the Institute, Prof. David Greiner, Mario Hernández and many staff and doctoral students of the ULPGC.
The UNESCO Chair on the Ethical Governance of Artificial Intelligence, operating at IPPT PAN, was represented by Prof. Tadeusz Burczyński – UNESCO Chair Holder and Prof. Iwona Pokorska-Służalec – Project Coordinator UNESCO Chair.
On the Polish side, the meeting was also attended by Prof. Maciej Paszyński from AGH UST and Prof. Anna Paszyńska from the Jagiellonian University/AGH.
The SIAMI Institute conducts research in the areas of, among m.in others: artificial intelligence and machine learning, intelligent systems, data processing, AI applications in industry, medicine and technical sciences, and international cooperation in the field of new technologies.
During the meetings, the goals and activities of the UNESCO Chair and the scientific and research capabilities of the IPPT PAS Institute in the field of artificial intelligence were presented. The Spanish website SIANI - ULPGC presented presentations by scientists and PhD students who presented various research areas using AI methods and tools.
The agenda of the meeting is attached. At the end of the visit, a number of potential research projects that could become the subject of joint scientific initiatives were discussed. It was agreed to undertake activities aimed at preparing and jointly submitting applications for funding of research projects under national and international programmes.

The next seminar will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Auditorium (2nd floor, IPPT PAN). The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Maciej Ogrodniczuk from the Institute of Computer Science Polish Academy of Sciences and is entitled: PLLuM – Polish Large Language Model.
